When an alert is created or a graph is shown, we use the most specific device name available...
- If you assigned a name to a device, we use that name.
- Else, if your router is acting as a DNS Proxy, we use the name your router learned from the device's DHCP request (listed as the Last Local Name).
- Lastly, if neither of the above is available, we use the manufacturer (vendor) name based on the MAC address prefix. This usually provides a good hint as to what device it is.
Note: By accessing the I/O Monitor directly, via the Local Website page, you can utilize the Device Identification function to help identify a specific network device.
