When an alert is created or a graph is shown, we use the most specific device name available...

  1. If you assigned a name to a device, we use that name.
  2. Else, if your router is acting as a DNS Proxy, we use the name your router learned from the device's DHCP request (listed as the Last Local Name).
  3. Lastly, if neither of the above is available, we use the manufacturer (vendor) name based on the MAC address prefix. This usually provides a good hint as to what device it is.


Note: By accessing the I/O Monitor directly, via the Local Website page, you can utilize the Device Identification function to help identify a specific network device.
